Jack Butland signs new long-term contract at Stoke City

Jack Butland has put pen to paper on a new five-and-a-half-year contract at Stoke City.

The England goalkeeper emerged as the club's number one this season following the departure of Asmir Begovic to Chelsea last summer.

Butland is also in contention for this summer's Euro 2016 with England as he was handed his senior debut in October.

"It's been incredible," Butland told the club's official website. "I've waited a long time for my chance, worked incredibly hard for it and I am really enjoying my time here so I'm delighted to extend it even further.

"It was an easy decision to make, especially off the back of this season with the club moving forward and stepping in the right direction.

"I've felt comfortable here and I felt ready to come in and make my mark in the Premier League, which has gone extremely well."

The shot-stopper joined the Potters from Birmingham City in 2013.
