The Football Association have charged Stoke City defender Andy Wilkinson with violent conduct.
Wilkinson has been handed the punishment following an incident during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
The full-back had an off-the-ball altercation with City striker Mario Balotelli, which was not seen by the match officials. However, his alleged elbow was caught on video and the FA have now decided to act.
He has now been given until 6pm tomorrow to respond to the charge.
If found guilty, the 28-year-old is likely to face a three-match suspension.
