Stevenage striker Calvin Zola eager to prove himself

Stevenage striker Calvin Zola admits that he needs to prove himself after an injury-hit start to the season.

Stevenage striker Calvin Zola has admitted that he has a point to prove following his injury-hit start to the season.

The 29-year-old has made just two appearances this term after joining the League Two side from Aberdeen in the summer.

Despite failing to make an impact since August, Zola is eager to get back to fitness quickly and prove his worth to the team.

"Obviously it's not been a very good start," he told the club's official website. "It's not what I dreamt of when I first came here but I'm trying to get fit as quickly as possible. It's not easy at the moment but I'm sure there are better times ahead and hopefully that'll be soon.

"Yes, I came here to prove a point and I've now got even more of a point to prove. I'm absolutely determined to come back fitter, stronger and better for the most important part of the season where it really does matter."

Stevenage are currently in 19th place in the League Two table with 14 points from their opening 12 games.
