The 24-year-old Haiti striker believes the Buddies have the quality to be higher in the league.

Duckens Nazon is puzzled by St Mirren's lowly Ladbrokes Premiership status as he looks forward to the clash with Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Haiti striker has scored two goals in four matches since arriving on loan from loan from Sint-Truiden, the most recent with a penalty in the 2-2 draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie last weekend.

However, the Buddies are without a win in seven league matches – six defeats and a draw – and are still languishing at the bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership, five points behind Hamilton and Dundee which bemuses Nazon.

"When I see some players in training and stuff like that, we have so much quality," said the former Coventry and Oldham loanee.

"I don't know which mistakes we did before but I don't know how it is possible that we are last at the moment.

"When we played Aberdeen away I thought we were even better than them.

"But what we did in the past is in the past, we need to focus on the main objective.

"We took a point from there, three points is much better, but a point is a point at Aberdeen and at this moment we need that and hopefully in the next games we will take some wins."

Nazon had to quickly adapt to the rigours of Scottish football.

He said: "It is more physical here. At the beginning it was hard but it's getting better.

"I played in England last year, it was physical but not as much as here.

"I am getting to know the boys better.

"For a striker it is good to score goals but the main goal is to stay in the Premiership."
