Tottenham Hotspur have announced that midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has joined Schalke 04 on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old Algeria international broke through the youth ranks at Spurs in 2013, and was a regular fixture in the team during Mauricio Pochettino's first season in charge.
However, in the 2015-16 campaign, the midfielder started just two Premier League fixtures, dropping behind Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier in the ranks.
Following the summer arrival of Victor Wanyama, it has been made even harder for Bentaleb to get minutes under his belt, but he has been given a lifeline by Schalke.
Earlier this week it was reported that the German club have agreed a loan deal with Spurs, and today, the club's sporting director Christian Heidel confirmed that Bentaleb will take part in training with his new teammates later today.
Spurs later released a statement confirming the news regarding the midfielder, who has made 66 appearances for the North London club, scoring one goal.
