Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill says that Danny Rose will remain at the Stadium of Light until the end of the season.

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill has revealed that Danny Rose will remain at the Stadium of Light until the end of the season.

The defender, who can also play in midfield, is currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, with his parent team expected to recall the 22-year-old this month.

However, O'Neill told the Sunderland Echo: "The loan deal contained an option for Spurs to recall Danny this month, but they had to exercise that option by January 17.

"I'm pleased to say that they haven't done so, so he will be with us for the rest of the season and that is really good news."

Rose began his career at Leeds United.
