Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined Sunderland in the race to sign Argentine midfielder Ever Banega.
Valencia are believed to be eager to sell the 25-year-old this summer after sending him to Newell's Old Boys in a loan deal last season.
According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has already started the process to bring Banega to the Stadium of Light, but no official word from either club has arrived yet.
New Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino is rumoured to be an admirer of Banega, who could be available for around £5.5m this summer.
Banega, who joined Valencia in 2008, was left out of the Argentina squad for the World Cup.
