Jose Mourinho makes a plea to Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy to try to secure the signing of Croatian midfielder Luka Modric.

Jose Mourinho has made an effort to end the stalemate between Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid over Luka Modric by contacting Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Mourinho has called Levy to make peace as negotiations continue to stay deadlocked over the Croatian midfielder's future, according to The Mirror.

Modric has been forced to return to training at Spurs and apologise to manager Andre Villas-Boas after he went AWOL in a bid to secure a move to Spain.

Madrid are understood to be willing to pay no more than £27m as Levy sees the player as being worth more, especially considering the rumoured interest of oil-rich Paris Saint-Germain.
