Manchester City are reportedly still considering Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann as a back-up option should they fail to sign top target Harry Kane.
Citizens boss Pep Guardiola this week cast doubt over a deal going through for Tottenham Hotspur striker Kane, who is valued at over £100m.
The Premier League champions have other candidates in mind to fill the void left by all-time leading scorer Sergio Aguero, with Griezmann apparently among those being eyed up.
Mundo Deportivo suggests that City realise bringing in the France international from Barca is a lot more feasible than wasting more time on trying to land Kane.
It is claimed that Guardiola's side can afford to purchase Griezmann outright, though a swap deal may also be considered.
Barca, who have already snapped up Aguero and Eric Garcia from City on free transfers, are said to be interested in Aymeric Laporte, Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo.
Griezmann finished the 2020-21 campaign with 20 goals and 12 assists in all competitions and has also been touted as a target for Juventus.
