Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur receive a boost in their pursuit of Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov after the player's representative opens the door to a potential transfer.

The agent of Lens' defender Abdukodir Khusanov has claimed that his client is 'ready to play for the best clubs in Europe' amid interest from the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Khusanov is currently in his second season with Lens after joining the French club from Belarusian side Energetik-BGU for £83,000 in the summer of 2023.

After being restricted to just 15 competitive appearances last season, Khusanov has gone on to establish himself as a regular fixture in the first-team side this season.

The young defender has started 11 of his 13 Ligue 1 appearances this term, playing a key role in a Lens side that currently shares the best defensive record with Paris Saint-Germain after conceding 14 goals in 15 matches.

As a result of his impressive form, Khusanov has emerged as a potential target for reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

Man City, Spurs receive Khusanov boost

Tottenham have also been linked with a potential move for the Uzbekistan international, who is under contract until the summer of 2027.

Khusanov's representative Gairat Khasbiullin, owner of Football Group LLC, has now opened the door to a possible move to the Premier League, revealing that Lens will not stand in the way of a January departure.

As per The Mirror, Khasbiullin said: "Abdukodir is a player who has already shown that he is one of the best in his position in Europe. He is young and every day he becomes even stronger.

"He deserves to play in the best clubs in Europe. We have a very good relationship with Lens and we are on the same side - we want the best for the player together If the transfer is successful, the club will receive a well-deserved reward for trusting the young player."

How much will Khusanov cost?

Man City and Spurs are seemingly keen to add Khusanov to their backline after seeing their respective defences hit by a number of injuries this season.

There is a belief that a £20m fee could be enough to persuade Lens to part ways with the defender before the end of the current transfer window.

However, Man City and Tottenham may face further competition for Khusanov's signature, with Newcastle United believed to be showing an interest in the centre-back.

Meanwhile, Ligue 1 champions PSG could offer Khusanov the chance to remain in France, having been touted as a possible contender for his signature.
