Manchester City join race to sign Tottenham Hotspur's Gareth Bale?

Manchester City will reportedly try to fight off Real Madrid for Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale.

Manchester City will reportedly try to pry winger Gareth Bale away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The Wales international, who has netted 12 goals in his last 13 fixtures, is believed to be the subject of big-money transfer bids at the end of the season.

While the North London club are thought to be confident that they can keep the 23-year-old for another season, City manager Roberto Mancini has urged the board to splash out on Bale in the summer, according to Goal.com.

Despite the Premier League champions' interest, reports have claimed that La Liga giants Real Madrid are in pole position to land the former Southampton player.
