Manchester City could reportedly end their pursuit of Harry Kane to instead focus on bringing Lionel Messi to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The Citizens completed a £100m move for Jack Grealish on Thursday evening and continue to be credited with a firm interest in Tottenham Hotspur forward Kane.
However, Barcelona announced on Thursday that Messi would not be signing a new deal at Camp Nou, and Man City are thought to be the favourites to sign him on a free transfer this summer.
According to The Express, Kane's hopes of moving to Manchester could be ended by Messi's exit, with the Premier League champions potentially switching their attention to the Argentina international.
The report claims that Man City had been ready to offer £130m for Kane but could now instead place their full focus on putting together a lucrative package to entice Messi to the Etihad Stadium.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Paris Saint-Germain have already been in contact with Messi to register their interest in his services.
However, the Ligue 1 giants are believed to be currently focusing on extending the contract of Kylian Mbappe and could therefore struggle to afford to sign the South American this summer.
