Lewis Holtby seals Hamburger SV loan

Tottenham Hotpsur playmaker Lewis Holtby joins Hamburger SV on a season-long loan.

Hamburger SV have announced the signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby on a one-year loan deal.

The 23-year-old was linked with a move away from White Hart Lane throughout the summer, with Everton recently emerging as a potential destination.

However, Holtby, a £1.5m signing from Schalke 04 in January 2013, has sealed a switch back to the Bundesliga on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

The German spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham, scoring once in 13 appearances as the Cottagers were relegated to the Championship.
