Barcelona's chief negotiator Andoni Zubizarreta reportedly lays the foundations for the transfer of Tottenham's Gareth Bale to the Catalan club.

Preliminary negotiations between Gareth Bale, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona have reportedly begun.

According to Catalan paper Sport, Barca's chief negotiator Andoni Zubizarreta has travelled to London, made phone calls and arranged meetings in an attempt to lead the race for the highly-rated 22-year-old.

While Spurs are said to have a 'hands-off' stance, the Spanish champions are apparently encouraged by talks with the Welshman's management firm, the Stellar Group.

It is said that the club will try to get Bale to force through a move in a similar way Cesc Fabregas did to lower any mega asking price the North London club slap on Bale.

The winger has continued his impressive form this term, returning ten goals for the club.
