Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Maurizio Sarri as their number one choice to replace Jose Mourinho as head coach of the club.
Ryan Mason is currently in temporary charge of the North London outfit while they look for a long-term replacement for Mourinho, who was sacked last month.
A recent report claimed that Spurs had met with Inter Milan's Antonio Conte to discuss the managerial role at the club, while a number of other names have been linked with the position in recent days.
However, according to Calciomercato, Tottenham view Sarri as their 'first-choice target' to become the team's new head coach at the start of the 2021-22 campaign.
The report claims that Roma were interested in the 62-year-old before confirming Mourinho as their new manager, and contact has already been made between Spurs and the Italian.
Sarri, who has been out of work since being sacked by Juventus last August, managed Chelsea during the 2018-19 campaign, leading the Blues to the Europa League title and EFL Cup final.
