Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou emerges as the new frontrunner to take charge of Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has reportedly emerged as the new frontrunner to take charge of Tottenham Hotspur.

The North Londoners have been on the lookout for a new boss since the departure of Antonio Conte in March.

Cristian Stellini endured a brief four-game stint in temporary charge before Ryan Mason took the reins on a caretaker basis until the end of the season.

Spurs appeared to have stepped up their interest in Feyenoord manager Arne Slot, who has successfully led the Dutch side to the Eredivisie title this season.

However, the 44-year-old has now ruled himself out of contention for the vacancy and has pledged his loyalties to Feyenoord for next season.

A recent report claims that Tottenham walked away from a potential swoop for Slot due to Feyenoord's demands over his buy-out clause.

According to The Independent, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy have since swiftly turned his attention to Celtic boss Postecoglou and he is 'strongly considering' a move for the Australian.

Postecoglou has enjoyed a successful two-year reign in Glasgow, winning back-to-back Premiership titles and Scottish League Cups.

The 57-year-old is hoping to become the first Celtic boss since Brendan Rodgers in 2016-17 to lead Celtic to the domestic treble, with his Hoops side scheduled to face Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup final on June 3.

Postecoglou, who was recently named the SPFL Manager of the Year, has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs throughout this season, including Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham.

However, the former Yokohama F. Marinos manager has repeatedly insisted that he has paid no attention to rumours of a possible exit from Celtic.

Asked by BBC Sport about the prospect of joining Spurs in March, Postecoglou said: "It's not of interest to me. I don't wake up and get an early briefing on the latest gossip.

"The rest of it doesn't mean anything to me. It doesn't affect me or the people around me. Like most things, people want to have something to talk about."

Postecoglou is believed to be on a one-year rolling contract at Celtic, but it is understood that the Hoops are planning to offer him a new deal.

Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim is also said to be under consideration by Tottenham, while former Spain and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is another admired by the Spurs hierarchy, although a move for the latter is considered less likely.
