Mauricio Pochettino: 'Tottenham Hotspur supporters right to dream'

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino challenges his side to keep the pressure on leaders Leicester City in order to reward the club's loyal supporters.

Mauricio Pochettino has urged Tottenham Hotspur supporters to continue dreaming of Premier League title success after getting his side's campaign back on track.

The North London outfit picked up a routine 2-0 win over Aston Villa in the West Midlands on Sunday afternoon to earn their first top-flight win in three outings.

Victory was all the more welcome for Tottenham following their disappointing showing in a 3-0 reverse at the hands of Borussia Dortmund in midweek, but the Prem summit is now within touching distance as the gap on leaders Leicester City has been reduced to just two points.

"It was a good victory and three important points after a few games that have not been so good," Pochettino is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "We created more chances and played well.

"It is difficult to play against teams playing for survival but we had the right mentality and I am pleased. We need to keep the pressure on and win games. You cannot stop the dream of the supporters and they are right to dream. But we need to work hard."

Leicester can strengthen their hold on top spot once more when they take on Newcastle United at the King Power Stadium on Monday evening.
