Mauricio Pochettino determined to challenge Chelsea next season

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is determined to challenge Chelsea for the Premier League title despite trailing the Blues by 25 points this season.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has outlined his ambition to challenge Chelsea for the Premier League title next season.

The Blues won the top-flight crown last week following their victory over Crystal Palace, after leading the league from the first month of the season.

Spurs are currently 25 points behind Jose Mourinho's men, and Pochettino has insisted that his team have to do their utmost to close the gap to become title contenders.

He told reporters: "This is, I think, a bigger challenge for the next season – to try to reduce the gap. In this case it is Chelsea who are the champions.

"I think that this is one challenge. Two is to be a strong team with a strong mentality and with a very good squad."

Tottenham play Stoke City later today at the Britannia Stadium.
