Day one of Harry Redknapp trial ends

The opening day of Harry Redknapp's trial for tax evasion at Southwark Crown Court has ended.

The Tottenham Hotspur manager has been accused of dodging taxes on "substantial payments" during his time in charge of Portsmouth.

Redknapp's chairman at Fratton Park, Milan Mandaric, is also in the dock facing similar charges.

Southwark Crown Court heard this afternoon how Redknapp opened up a bank account in Monaco named after his pet dog - Rosie47.

The said account is said to be at the centre of Redknapp's alleged crimes, with the 64-year-old accused of pocketing money from the transfer of players, including England international Peter Crouch.

The trial continues and is expected to last around two weeks.
