Wales boss Chris Coleman insists that his decision to replace Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale during Friday's 2-1 win over Scotland was just a precautionary measure.

Manager Chris Coleman has reassured Wales fans that Gareth Bale is not seriously injured.

The Tottenham Hotspur winger did not return for the second half of his nation's 2-1 win over Scotland on Friday evening, sparking fears that he could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, Coleman insists that his decision to replace Bale was merely a precautionary measure.

"Gareth Bale is okay," he explained. "He had a bang to his ankle during the week but he is okay."

Bale has scored 11 goals in his last 12 appearances for club and country.
