Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino: 'I will rotate my players'

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino admits that he will rotate many of his first-team squad for the EFL Cup tie with West Ham United.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he does not want to "take risks" on some of his players in the EFL Cup.

Spurs host West Ham United on Wednesday night - less than 72 hours before their Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford - and the likes of Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane are likely to be rested.

However, Pochettino has indicated that there could be mass changes, despite expressing a desire to remain in the competition.

The 45-year-old told reporters: "We are resting players because they need to rest, because we don't want to take risks. Then all the players that we believe are available, without risk, to play tomorrow, they are going to play.

"We are forced to give some rest to some players. But we are going to play with the players that can be fresh and ready to compete tomorrow because it's a derby and because we want to go to the next stage of the Carabao Cup."

Pochettino has ruled out the possibility of Erik Lamela making his first appearance in a year in the London derby.
