Olympiacos appoint Marco Silva as new manager

Former Sporting Lisbon manager Marco Silva takes the helm at Olympiacos.

Olympiacos have appointed Marco Silva as their new manager.

The 37-year-old was sacked by Sporting Lisbon at the end of last season despite guiding the club to third place in the league and the Taca de Portugal title.

The Greek club were searching for a successor to Vitor Pereira, who pulled off a league-and-cup double during a six-month stint there.

Pereira has since taken charge of Turkish side Fenerbahce.
