Southampton and Napoli are set for a transfer clash over Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell, it has been reported.
Partenopei manager Rafael Benitez is said to have been tracking the England international all summer, and is expected to follow up that interest with an offer of £8m, according to the Daily Star.
However, Saints boss Ronald Koeman, who has seen several high-profile outgoings in the last few weeks, is reportedly eager to bolster his squad by signing the 23-year-old, who is said to be surplus to requirements at the Etihad.
Rodwell joined City in 2012 for a £12m fee, but has only made 26 appearances for the Premier League champions.
