Gaston Ramirez's agent has revealed that he is "working to ensure" that his client leaves Southampton during the January transfer window.
The Uruguayan was the club's record signing when he arrived from Bologna for £12m in 2012, but following the appointment of Ronald Koeman as manager two years later, he has struggled to secure regular match action.
As a result, Pablo Betancourt confirmed that the 24-year-old has been informed that he can move on this winter, with Italy his preferred destination.
"We've been told that we can begin to look for a new team. We're working to ensure that a move can be made in January," he told Lazionews.eu..
"We've received two or three offers, including some from Italy. Gaston's favourite destination would be Italy."
Ramirez spent part of last season on loan with Hull City, for whom he scored one goal in 22 appearances.
