Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse has admitted that he is flattered to be compared to David Beckham.
Hull City boss Steve Bruce recently likened the 19-year-old to the former England captain after some eye-catching performances for the Saints this season.
The youngster revealed that he has studied footage of Beckham's technique on set pieces and crosses, claiming that the former Manchester United winger is his boyhood hero.
Speaking about Bruce's comments, Ward-Prowse told reporters: "I saw that and it is nice to be compared to someone like that.
"He is a boyhood hero of mine. He is someone I have modelled my attributes on - especially his free-kick taking and his set-piece delivery. I often stop after training with Rickie Lambert and practise."
Ward-Prowse's fine form this season earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate's England Under-21 squad.
