Morgan Schneiderlin not giving up on top four

Morgan Schneiderlin says that he and his Southampton teammates are perfectly capable of recovering from back-to-back defeats en route to claiming a top-four finish.

Morgan Schneiderlin has insisted that Southampton remain firmly in the hunt for Champions League qualification this season.

The Saints' top-four bid has taken a knock in recent weeks as defeats to Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion have left Ronald Koeman's side four points off the pace in sixth place.

"We still want to finish as high as possible - which means the top four. We still have the capacity to do it," the 25-year-old Frenchman told BBC Sport.

"There's a lot of expectation, after we beat Manchester United, that we could finish in the top four but we are not giving up on this.

"We have been in the top five since August - so why not?"
