Joe Mattock ruled out for six weeks with ankle injury

Sheffield Wednesday defender Joe Mattock is likely to miss around six weeks with an ankle injury.

Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt a blow with the news that Joe Mattock is likely to be out for six weeks with an ankle injury.

The defender sustained the injury in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic, and scans have confirmed that he suffered ligament damage.

"Joe is out for around six weeks. He went over on his ankle and the frustrating thing is, it wasn't a proper tackle," Wednesday boss Stuart Gray told reporters.

"He caught his studs in the turf and his body weight went over on the ankle. We wish him well and a quick recovery."

Gray's side are currently on an eight-match winless run in the Championship.
