League One side Sheffield United have suspended Connor Brown with immediate effect.
The club have taken the decision following an investigation into comments made by the 19-year-old on Twitter in the wake of United striker Ched Evans being sentenced to five years in prison for rape.
Brown is believed to have called Evans's 19-year-old female victim a "money-grabbing little tramp".
The Blades then proceeded to analyse the reserve player's words, while a rape charity reportedly made a complaint to North Wales Police.
No indication has been given as to how long Brown will be suspended for.
