Scott Brown: 'Defeat will keep Scotland grounded'

Scott Brown claims that Scotland's 3-1 defeat to England will keep the team's feet on the ground.

Scotland midfielder Scott Brown has claimed that Tuesday's friendly defeat to England will keep the team's feet on the ground.

The Scots were unbeaten in their previous three matches before they went down 3-1 to England at Celtic Park last night.

While admitting his disappointment over the outcome of the game, Brown believes that the result could prove useful in keeping things in perspective for the Scots.

"It will definitely keep our feet on the floor," he told Sky Sports News. "Everyone knows how good England are, we know they have pace and they pressed us high up the park and we struggled with that.

"We didn't play to our game plan. We didn't get on the ball, we weren't brave enough and didn't create enough chances. We didn't get the ball down, we didn't play well, we didn't press and we made mistakes."

Scotland are back in action in March 2015 when they host Gibraltar in Euro 2016 qualifying.
