Schalke 04 captain Benedikt Howedes has revealed that he hopes to play abroad, describing English football as a "flattering option".
Germany international Howedes has made 275 appearances for Schalke having spent his entire career at the Bundesliga club, but has now admitted that a move away in the future is on the cards.
"I am still keen on going abroad and playing in England is definitely a flattering option in this respect," he told German outlet Bild. "Still I am with Schalke and I have a job to do at this club.
"But, of course, some clubs are somehow more of interest from the point of view of a footballer than other clubs might be."
Howedes is being linked with a move to Liverpool following the appointment of new manager Jurgen Klopp, while the Reds are also said to be interested in Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia.
