Kevin-Prince Boateng: 'Italy not racist country'

Kevin-Prince Boateng insists that Italy is not a racist country and that was not the reason that he returned to Germany.

Schalke 04 midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has insisted that he did not leave Italy and AC Milan because of racist abuse.

It had been suggested that Boateng's return to Germany was due to the taunts he received last season, but he was quick to claim that Italy is not a racist country.

"I don't leave a country and lump all inhabitants together only because 10 people shout ignorant slogans," he told Kicker magazine.

"I want to get one thing straight: Italy is not a racist country."

Boateng previously played for Hertha Berlin before joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2007.
