Benedikt Howdes reveals his pride at being Schalke captain.

Schalke 04's Benedikt Howedes has admitted that being captain of the German club fills him with pride.

Howedes said that he hopes that he is recognised as the type of captain who can motivate his teammates when results are not going their way.

"It fills me with a lot of pride," he told UEFA.com. "It's my second year as captain and I'm very proud to be captain of such a big team and such a big club.

"I try to fulfil my duties as well as possible, trying to be a role model and trying to push my team forward when it's not going well."

Schalke's victory over Borussia Dortmund lifted them into fourth in the Bundesliga.
