Sampdoria have confirmed that striker Eder will miss the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.
The Italy international suffered ligament damage during his club's 4-2 defeat to Napoli on Sunday.
Eder, 28, has scored nine goals in 30 games for the Blucerchiati this term.
"Magnetic resonance imaging performed by the UC Sampdoria medical staff revealed a sprain of the medial collateral ligament of his left knee," read an official club statement. "The striker's season should be considered over. In the coming days he will begin treatment to return to competitive action."
Sampdoria are back in Serie A action on Wednesday when they welcome Hellas Verona to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
