Mons sack Enzo Scifo

Mons decide to part company with former Belgium international midfielder Enzo Scifo.

Enzo Scifo has been relieved of his duties as manager of Belgian Pro League side Mons.

The decision has been taken following the weekend's 4-2 defeat to Mechelen, which has left the Dragons bottom of the table and with two points from a possible 24 so far this season.

"This is a decision that was not easy to take," director Alain Lommers told the club's official website. "We thank Enzo for all the work done at the club.

"With him we had a great season last year. We hope that with this decision, the players will challenge."

Scifo is regarded by many to be one of the best Belgian footballers to have ever played the game. During his career, the 47-year-old represented his nation at four World Cups and also played for Inter Milan, Monaco and Anderlecht.
