Fabio Capello has said that Russia's match against Montenegro should have been abandoned when Igor Akinfeev was struck by a flare.
The goalkeeper was hit just moments after kickoff, resulting in the match being delayed for 35 minutes. It was eventually abandoned in the second half because of further crowd problems and a brawl on the sideline between players from both sides.
"The game should have been stopped immediately. It was a very unpleasant situation," BBC Sport quotes the Russia coach as saying.
Akinfeev, who was taken to a hospital in Podgorica after being struck, suffered minor burns as a result of the incident.
