Steve Evans not concerned by possible points deduction

Steve Evans insists that it will be business as usual for Rotherham United in the closing weeks of the season, despite the impending threat of a points deduction.

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has insisted that his side will not be distracted by off-field matters when they take on Fulham in a crucial Championship clash on Wednesday night.

The Millers face a possible points deduction after being found guilty of fielding an ineligible player by the Football League.

Defender Farrend Rawson played the full 90 minutes of the Rotherham's recent 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion, and the error could now land the Yorkshire club in hot water.

However, Evans is confident that his side will avoid the drop back down to League One, regardless of the governing body's disciplinary hearing outcome.

"If we lose three points we're getting relegated? Behave yourself," he is quoted as saying by BT Sport. "That's not going to happen, we have got points to play for. We don't know if it's going to have anything to do with points, we have to let that process take its place, there is always two sides.

"All I know is that we have got 43 points on the board until anyone tells me differently. There is a lot of football to be played between now and the end of the season and I would suggest that will have more to do whether we are going to be a Championship club than the process the Football League are involved in. We have got 12 points to play for not three."

Rotherham are currently seven points above the relegation zone, although with fellow strugglers Wigan Athletic and Millwall facing each other this evening, that gap will be reduced a little further.
