Ashley Cole believes that English footballers are happy to remain in the "comfort zone" of the Premier League.
Currently, all 23 members of England's World Cup squad ply their trade in Great Britain, whereas other nations tend to have at least some of their players based in foreign leagues.
However, Cole, who has just joined Italian side Roma, has hinted that it is easier for England players to stay at home, rather than broaden their horizons abroad.
"I think perhaps English players feel in their comfort zone in England. It's a big opportunity for me to try a different language, culture and way of living. I'm happy with my choice," he told reporters.
Cole is the only Englishman in Serie A.
