Abdominal injury halts Philipp Hosiner's move to FC Koln

Philipp Hosiner's proposed loan move to FC Koln collapses after the Rennes forward fails his medical.

Rennes forward Philipp Hosiner's proposed move to FC Koln has collapsed after the Austrian failed a medical.

The 25-year-old made the switch to Rennes on a three-year deal from Austria Wien last summer, but he has only started three Ligue 1 games this season.

It was confirmed earlier this week that Rennes had agreed to send Hosiner on loan to Koln for the rest of the season, and he accepted the terms of the move to Germany.

However, an abdominal injury was discovered during his medical and the Bundesliga club have now pulled out of the deal.

Hosiner has scored just once in 13 games this season.
