Real Sociedad's Mikel Gonzalez: "We can beat anyone"

Mikel Gonzalez says that Real Sociedad "can beat anyone" ahead of their Champions League opener against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.

Real Sociedad defender Mikel Gonzalez has insisted that the Spanish outfit "can beat anyone" ahead of their Champions League opener against Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Basque side, who earned their spot in Europe after finishing fourth in La Liga last season, welcome the Ukrainian outfit to Spain on Tuesday evening.

"We are looking forward to this and calmly so. We have been playing together for a while now and we are relaxed. If we do things well, we can beat anyone. We are calm," the 27-year-old told reporters at a press conference.

"This is what has provided us with victories against Lyon and others last year. Shakhtar is a very nice game because for almost everyone it is the first of its kind that we will face in our careers."

Sociedad head into the match on the back of a 0-0 draw with Levante in La Liga on Saturday.
