Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reveals that the club have ended their interest in Kylian Mbappe, but leaves the door open for the forward to join in the future.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed that the club have now ended their interest in Kylian Mbappe but he has left the door open for a potential move for the forward in the future.

Mbappe, 23, was strongly linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu at a time when his contract was due to expire in the summer.

However, the France international decided to commit his future to the Parisian outfit last month and penned a new three-year deal until June 2025, ending Perez's hoping of recruiting the forward as his new Galactico.

Perez has since told El Chiringuito that he did not want to sign the 'current version' of Mbappe and is instead open to luring the Frenchman to the club later in his career.

"I've never said it's over between Mbappe and Real Madrid forever. I never said that. In three years, many things can change. But I don't want this Mbappe. The last one is not the same Kylian we wanted. I wanted the real one," said Perez.

"Real Madrid will be always open to buy players who understand that no one is bigger than the club. There will be no more signings, as of now. But then let's see what is gonna happen, summer is very long."

Perez has since taken a swipe at Mbappe, claiming that the Frenchman initially wanted to join Los Blancos before stating that financial incentives made him change his mind.

"We didn't sign any pre-contract or agreement with Kylian Mbappe because it's not regular. Kylian Mbappe did not betray me. Mbappe told us his dream was to play for Real Madrid, many and many times. But then all changed in 15 days because of political and economical pressure. His dream had to change," the 75-year-old added.

"I think Kylian Mbappe's mum wanted him to join Real Madrid, she knows it has always been Kylian's dream. I'm sure she wanted Mbappe to join us, but things change and we have to respect. I still respect Kylian, absolutely."

Mbappe has made 216 appearances for PSG across all competitions, scoring 170 goals and registering 88 assists.
