Cruzeiro: 'Lucas Silva not leaving in January'

Cruzeiro sporting director Alexandre Mattos says that Lucas Silva will not be joining Real Madrid in January.

Cruzeiro sporting director Alexandre Mattos has claimed that Lucas Silva will not leave the Brazilian club in January.

The 21-year-old had widely been expected to join Real Madrid next month, but Mattos has said that the Spanish outfit are not interested in bolstering their squad in the winter window.

"We've held four formal meetings to discuss the future of Lucas Silva but I've spoken with Real Madrid representatives over 10 times," Mattos Radio Itatiaia.

"In principal they are not intending to bring any players in during the winter transfer window and we have no urgency to sell Lucas."

Real Madrid are expected to move for Silva next summer.
