Ian Rush: Gareth Bale has been "absolutely fantastic"

Ian Rush praises Gareth Bale for the way that he has adapted to playing for Real Madrid this season.

Ian Rush has claimed that Gareth Bale has been "absolutely fantastic" since moving to Real Madrid.

The Wales international moved to Los Blancos from Tottenham Hotspur for a world record fee of £85m last summer, and has scored 20 goals since making the switch.

Bale netted the winning goal in Madrid's 2-1 triumph over Barcelona in last week's Copa del Rey final, and Rush talked up his compatriot's impact since moving to the Spanish capital.

The former Liverpool striker told BT Sport: "He wasn't fully fit when he first went there and people were saying he needs time to fit in.

"But he's been absolutely fantastic, and he's doing it now with a confidence in Spain. A lot of it is down to first impressions over there, and he wasn't fully fit, but he's in motion now."

Carlo Ancelotti's side are currently third in La Liga.
