Real Madrid to hold 6.30pm press conference over Rafael Benitez's future

Real Madrid are to hold a press conference at 6.30pm amid rumours that Rafael Benitez has been sacked.

Real Madrid have announced that club president Florentino Perez will address the media in a press conference at 6.30pm UK time amid reports that Rafael Benitez has been sacked.

Widespread reports have claimed that the Spaniard has been relieved of his duties just seven months after he was named as Carlo Ancelotti's successor.

The European giants have opted to hold a press conference after the board had a meeting earlier today to discuss Benitez's future.

The former Liverpool manager has overseen 11 victories, four draws and three defeats in La Liga and has guided the team to a last-16 tie against Roma in the Champions League.
