Sports Mole's La Liga Team of the Week

Sports Mole selects its 11 star performers from the second weekend of La Liga action.

Real Madrid threw away a two-goal lead against Real Sociedad on Sunday to lose 4-2 against the Basque outfit in the shock result of week two in La Liga.

Madrid raced 2-0 ahead courtesy of early goals from Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale, but then conceded four times without reply as they suffered defeat at the Anoeta.

Fellow title challengers Barcelona, however, won away at Villarreal courtesy of a late strike from teenager Sandro Ramirez, while champions Atletico Madrid narrowly beat Eibar 2-1.

The week's action started on Friday evening, with Getafe recording a 1-0 victory over Almeria, before Valencia made it four points from two games with a thumping 3-0 win over Malaga.

Athletic Bilbao picked up their first three points of the season by beating Levante 3-0 on Saturday, while Cordoba drew 1-1 at home to Celta Vigo and Sevilla won 2-1 at Espanyol.

Deportivo La Coruna picked up a point in a 2-2 draw with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, before the action concluded with a 1-1 draw between Elche and Granada.

Here, Sports Mole has picked out its 11 star performers from Spain's leading division.

Vicente Guaita (Getafe)
Getafe beat off a host of clubs to sign the 27-year-old this summer and he was in fine form during his side's 1-0 win over Almeria on Friday evening. The Spaniard made a number of smart saves in Madrid and also gave an air of calmness to those around him.

Joseba Zaldua (Real Sociedad)
The youngster further enhanced his growing reputation with a dominant display in Sociedad's 4-2 victory over Real Madrid. The Spaniard dealt impressively with the threat of Bale, while he proved an outlet in the final third. An all-round excellent display from the right-back.
Jeremy Mathieu (Barcelona)
Eyebrows were raised when Barcelona signed the Frenchman from Valencia this summer, but he continued his solid start to the season with an impressive display in his side's 1-0 win over Villarreal. The centre-back was aerially dominant and calm in possession of the ball.
Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Bilbao)
Bilbao managed to fight off interest in the youngster this summer, but they will find it increasingly difficult in the transfer windows ahead. The centre-back was again in fine form this weekend, contributing heavily to his side's clean sheet in Saturday's 3-0 win over Levante.
Abraham (Eibar)
The full-back scored an absolute cracker in Eibar's 2-1 defeat to Atletico on Sunday – finding the top corner with a curling effort from outside the box. It was his all-round performance that gains him a spot in this team, however. Strong at the back and a threat in the final third.

David Zurutuza (Real Sociedad)
Zurutuza was the star of the show as Sociedad came from 2-0 behind to beat Real Madrid 4-2 on Sunday. The midfielder scored twice at the Anoeta, with Los Blancos struggling to contain his all-action style. Everything good about Sociedad came through the 28-year-old.
Xabi Prieto (Real Sociedad)
Zurutuza's two goals might have slightly overshadowed Prieto, but the Sociedad skipper was just as important to his team. He registered two assists against the capital outfit, first setting up Inigo Martinez before feeding Zurutuza for his second.
Ander Iturraspe (Athletic Bilbao)
The 25-year-old scored Bilbao's second in Saturday's 3-0 win over Levante at San Mames, with his goal adding gloss to what was a fine all-round display. The midfielder's form last season earned him a call into Spain's preliminary World Cup squad and he looks set to soon make his international bow.
Javi Lara (Eibar)
Lara could not prevent Eibar losing at Atletico on Sunday, but it took nothing away from his performance. The Spaniard's delivery from wide areas, both from set pieces and in general play, was terrific, while he was involved in everything good about Eibar's performance.

Alberto Bueno (Rayo Vallecano)
Bueno's two goals in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Deportivo La Coruna helped Rayo continue their unbeaten start to the new season. The 26-year-old struck five minutes before the interval and again 15 minutes from time in what was a terrific display from the Spanish attacker.
Paco Alcacer (Valencia)
The 20-year-old is expected to play a key role for Valencia this season and further enhanced his reputation with Los Che's third goal in Friday's 3-0 win over Malaga. The away side just could not deal with Alcacer's pace and movement in the final third.
