Gareth Bale's record vs. Barcelona

Sports Mole looks at how Gareth Bale has fared against Barcelona during his time with Real Madrid ahead of Sunday's showdown between the two sides.

Zinedine Zidane has some big selection calls to make for the final El Clasico of the season, as Real Madrid travel to Camp Nou to face champions Barcelona.

Having repeatedly played down talk of a fallout with Gareth Bale, the Frenchman may opt to start the forward on Sunday evening after leaving him out for the start of both Champions League matches against Bayern Munich.

Bale has cut a frustrated figure at times this term and will no doubt be desperate to prove a point at the home of Madrid's biggest rivals.

With that in mind, Sports Mole looks at the Wales international's past record against Barca in all competitions.

Rather surprisingly, Bale has scored just once in nine previous El Clasico matches, while also chipping in with a paltry one assist.

That goal was memorable to say the least, though, as the 28-year-old capped a Man of the Match display with the winner in the 2014 Copa del Rey final, picking up the ball inside his own half before eventually slotting it home in style.

Bale is still awaiting his first La Liga goal at the seventh attempt, however, and he also fired a blank in the Supercopa showdown at the start of the season.

The most recent match between the two sides - a 3-0 win for Barca in December to effectively kill off Madrid's title hopes - saw the Wales international waste a good chance after coming off the bench with a quarter of the game to play.
