Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has set his sights on representing England.
The 22-year-old was handed his first ever start in the Premier League during his side's 3-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
Having made his bow in the English top flight, the keeper has now turned his attention to forcing his way into the senior national squad.
"I hope I can get a run in the Reading team now," said McCarthy. "I played in the Championship last year and I've been wanting to play in the Premier League for a long time. It's a massive league.
"I just have to get on and play my best. Obviously I want to play for England one day and this can give me a good chance to do that."
McCarthy had loan spells with Leeds United and Ipswich Town last season.
