Rangers record loss of £2.6m in six-month period

Rangers announce a loss of £2.6m for the six-month period to December 31, 2014.

Rangers have announced that the club has recorded a £2.6m pre-tax loss for the six-month period to December 31, 2014.

The Scottish outfit, which was taken over by Dave King and his consortium earlier this month, are down £3.5m from the previous year.

Revenue of £13.1m has been posted, while season-ticket sales stood at 24,589 at the end of the six-month term.

Interim chairman Paul Murray released a statement via the club's official website, which read: "The new board's focus is on the future. We are in the process of developing a business and funding plan which will help us rebuild the club and ensure it enjoys football and commercial success in the future.

"We will work closely with our shareholders, supporters and other stakeholders to achieve our vision of building a modern football club founded on our traditional values and standards. The recovery process will take time but if we work closely together we are confident of success."

Rangers also confirmed that their average attendance at home league matches of 32,321 is the 13th highest in the UK.
