Steve Lomas: 'Adel Taarabt needs to look at himself'

Former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Steve Lomas believes that Harry Redknapp was right to question Adel Taarabt's commitment to the club.

Former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Steve Lomas has said that Harry Redknapp has every right to question Adel Taarabt's commitment to the club.

The Hoops boss accused the Moroccan of being unprofessional and raised concerns over his fitness.

Taarabt has since hit back at Redknapp's comments, but Lomas believes that the 25-year-old deserves little sympathy.

"If Taarabt was flying and fit, Harry would use him. He has always used flair players like that – the likes of Paolo Di Canio and Eyal Berkovic," Lomas told talkSPORT.

"If he is on £60,000 to £70,000 per week and he ain't putting it in, he deserves to be exposed.

"Where QPR are at the minute, they need committed players. Taarabt is a talent, but Harry Redknapp is not the first manager to be frustrated with him and Adel needs to have a look at himself."

Taarabt has made just three appearances for QPR this season.
