Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has reportedly been given an injury scare ahead of the World Cup.
The Argentina captain has already claimed that the tournament will be his final World Cup, and he will attempt to win the prestigious trophy for the first time in his glittering career.
Messi will want to head to Qatar in full fitness, but according to the Daily Mail, the 34-year-old is set to miss Sunday's away meeting with Lorient due to an inflamed Achilles tendon.
The report claims that Messi only has a minor injury, and as a result, he is expected to return to full training next week.
The forward could potentially feature in PSG's final game before the World Cup break, with the French champions set to face Auxerre on November 13.
Messi will then turn his attention to Argentina's opening match against Saudi Arabia on November 22 before completing the group stage with games against Mexico and Poland.
The former Barcelona star is set to head to Qatar in fine form after scoring 12 goals and providing 14 assists in 18 appearances for PSG this season.
