PSG move to within two points of Ligue 1 leaders Montpellier with a 6-1 thrashing of Sochaux.

Paris Saint-Germain moved to within two points of Montpellier at the top of Ligue 1 with a comfortable 6-1 win over Sochaux.

The hosts wasted little time in asserting their dominance on the match as Javier Pastore opened the scoring with just five minutes played.

Somewhat surprisingly Sochaux responded with an equaliser almost immediately courtesy of Malian striker Modibo Maiga.

Former Inter Milan midfielder Thiago Motta restored PSG's advantage on 24 minutes and the hosts were comfortable leaders before the break as Jérémy Ménez made the score 3-1.

The result was made more emphatic in the second half as Brazilian forward Nene netted a quickfire double.

Defender Sylvain Armand then added a sixth in stoppage time to complete the scoring for Carlo Ancelotti's side.
